Not to sound like a jerk but I a have heard of people doing this before, are you trying to pull the tank to get at your spark plug? If so you don't need to, just try and pull one and losen the other bolt and nut from the chrome cover that blocks the plug and rotate the cover to the side, exposing the plug, you can get at it with the correct plug wrench. If you do need to pull the tank, make sure all your fuel lines are disconnected, the spedometer is unscreweed from the case, and lift the rear of the tank up tip it to one side or the other and kind of jimmy it off, the thing that gets hung up is the fuel shut off tree on the tank bottom, just focus on getting that rotated away from the frame and the tank should come off. Also just to see, take a peek under tank from the front of the bike to see the two rubber wheels that the tank rides on, knowing what kind of position they are in makes it a lot easier to get off. For the air filter, remove the side cover off of the muffler side of the bike, the cover that is painted the same as your tank and fenders...hopefully. under there you will find a plastic cover held on by one screw remove it and the filter is inside, I'm sure begging to be changed. Good luck
